A SERIES INTRODUCTION
What does it look like to invite God into our everyday lives? That’s the million dollar question. Tish Harrison Warren says, “How I spend this ordinary day in Christ is how I will spend my Christian life.” This teaching series aims to give you tools for your spiritual growth in your everyday life. We’ll cover topics like Bible reading, confession and repentance, fasting, prayer, missions, and self-care. We’ll have guest speakers: Bo Corbin will visit and share about Japan and the reason he and Sharisa will be moving there. Jonathan Umbriaco, a therapist from the Center for Christian Therapy, will pay us another visit, share some of his observations, and guide a conversation about what it means to be loved by God. This series is going to be a fun one; you’ll want to make plans to be here for it.
This is a live resource page, and as resources are mentioned on Sundays, they’ll be added here.

The Bible Recap Books – Adults and Kids
“Have you ever closed your Bible and thought, What did I just read? Or maybe you have tried to read through the Bible in a year, but quit when it felt confusing or impersonal. The Bible Recap is here to help. Tara-Leigh Cobble, host of the popular podcast “The Bible Recap”, walks readers through a 365-day chronological Bible reading plan and explains each day’s passage in an easy-to-understand way.
Emphasizing how God’s character can be seen throughout Scripture, the recaps are simple and short yet deep enough to help you understand the hard parts and press into knowing God better. As Cobble says, the primary role of Scripture is to show me who God is, and if I behold God, my life will naturally conform around what I learn about Him. The Bible Recap will not only help you grasp the entire narrative of the Bible, it will fortify your faith. The Bible Recap book contains the recaps that you’ll read after you complete the Bible reading for that day. This week we’re joined by Guest Speaker Bo Corbin, who is preparing to move with his family to be a part of starting new churches in Japan. Why? He shares the reason, and reminds us that our everyday life has eternal significance. Bo continues our teaching series, Spiritual Rhythms.
He recommends picking up a copy of the book, Evangelism as Exiles by Elliot Clark.
In the wilderness, Jesus doesn’t feast; Jesus fasts. And Jesus’ fast prepares Him for His purpose.
As you consider fasting, here are some ideas to consider:
Poignant questions as you think about fasting:
On Wednesday, March 5th, much of the global church will begin a season of fasting, known as Lent. It is 40 days + 6 Sundays, leading up to Easter. Each Sunday is designed to be a “mini-Easter,” where you can break fast for that Sunday, in anticipation of the Easter Sunday that is coming – a foretaste of Easter that is on its way! Perhaps you will want to align your fast with the fast of the global church?
There’s so much to say, and so much baggage needing untangled, there were a lot of resources I stumbled over in my preparation this week that I just didn’t have time to include or unpack. This PDF (below) are a compilation of quotes and resources for further digging.
