“Jesus Christ is perfect theology.” The sermon explains that difficult Old Testament passages, like the conquest narratives in Joshua, must be understood in their historical and literary context, including ancient warfare rhetoric and cultural practices. God revealed Himself progressively throughout history, and Jesus is God fully revealed. Therefore, Christians should interpret all Scripture through the lens of Jesus, who demonstrated God’s true character by dying for His enemies and teaching love rather than vengeance.
