This week, we delve into Advent and the theme of hope. Hopelessness, a universal experience, often arises from unmet expectations and disappointments. Isaiah’s message to the Northern Kingdom of Israel, a people who had lost everything, speaks of a future hope and a child who will bring everlasting peace and justice. Unlike worldly hope, which is based on circumstances, biblical hope is anchored in a Person. Isaiah’s words point to a child who will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection offer a hope that transcends circumstances. As we navigate life’s challenges, we are invited to anchor our hope in Jesus, reflecting on God’s past faithfulness to strengthen our future hope. This Advent, let us turn to Jesus as our firm foundation and reflect on where we place our hope.
